SRK ko jalaa do

Bollywood movies, all Pakistanis have atleast watched one and all Pakistanis have atleast participated once in a debate regarding whether Indian movies should be watched or not. Majority, that I have met, is against watching Indian movies. Their reason, India and Pakistan are enemies. This makes me wonder, why do we watch movies? Cause of Pakistan's relationships with other countries? I don't think so. Otherwise watching Hollywood movies should be banned as a protest against drone attacks. We watch movies for entertainment. Let's not complicate. 3 idiots, Page 3, Munna Bhai MBBS, Corporate, Rang de basanti etc were great movies irrespective of their origin. Simple. Why is patriotism directly propotional to not watching Indian movies? Wow, our leaders who don't have time to watch Indian movies are really patriotic then, I think :P.We should invest this patriotism in doing something constructive. Moreover, if you have problems with those Indian movies that carry anti-Pakistan sentiments, don't watch them. Censor board should ban them, but what is wrong with watching an Indian movie that talks about freedom from corruption. Pakistan and India are similar in many ways. We share a common language(the version of hindi they use in movies is more urdu than hindi), we share corrupt politicians, corrupt law enforcement agencies, unemployment, poverty, ignorance etc. So obviously, we can relate better with Indian movies. What is wrong with that? Cultural invasion or cultural similarities? Hmmmm. In the end I guess, a Pakistani should be punished with Maula jutt, for misplacing his/her patriotism. :P

  1. I agree with Mano. I really love Indian movies and just because I'm Pakistani doesn't mean I'm not going to watch them. Culture shouldn't come into politics.
